spun glass, glass tubes, smoke, wood 256 x 155 x 32 cm

Urban vegetation helps to reduce urban heat islands. The plant canopy, through shading and transpiration processes, reduces air and building surface temperatures. Glass tubes draw a temperature curve: that of Angers over the course of a year. These tubes are reminiscent of the aesthetics of laboratory and scientific glassmaking, using the same raw materials. Hackberry branches take root in these tubes. This species of tree is much used in an experimental scientific installation called "rue canyon" (carried out on the Angers agrocampus site). This research studies urban microclimates. This protocol makes it possible to study the climatic services provided by trees in the city.
